[Lcdproc] Noritake VFDs

Hi everyone,

 

I'm providing some feedback on Noritake VFDs as stated in the User's Guide..
I can't get it to work. J

 

Now that being said, the LCD unit came out of a system from Net Integration
Technologies (now some part of IBM.) 

 

The Part Number on the LCD is CU16025ECPB-W6J. I have confirmed this is a
Noritake unit after a google search.

 

The interface between the LCD and PC is a separate board which contains an
Amtel 90S8515 controller chip.

 

The connection to the PC is using the SIR1 (serial port 2 set to HPSIR) port
on the motherboard  (Matsonic MS8127C+).

 

I have verified the following lines are in the config file.

 

[serialVFD]

Device=/dev/cuad1

Speed=9600

Type=2

Size=16x2

 

FYI, this is running on a pfSense system. I've had to add the [serialVFD]
into the config generation script manually and changed the com2 device from
"/dev/cua1" to "/dev/cuad1".

 

In the pfSense System Logs, I get this message:

 

kernel: pid 5455 (LCDd), uid 65534: exited on signal 11

 

I will assist, answer and test any suggestions or modifications. I would
really like this to work! J
