Looking at http://palmorb.sourceforge.net/authors.html , David Douthitt's
improvements (which you reference above) were folded into the SourceForge
codebase (followed by further improvements in 2004 by Chris Lansley).

The version of PalmOrb from 2000 is a pretty simplistic Matrix Orbital
emulator - I think all you get is 20x4 output, no input, and few
options. I've had a MO display since 1999, and back then, there
weren't all that many display variations. Since then, they've
exploded with models, and so various folks added flexibility into the
original 20x4 emulator.

What of David Douhitt's suggested improvements from the archived
message in 2002 that you are looking for aren't in the present
SourceForge version?
