[Lcdproc] Text getting "offset" on a 24x2 hd44780 display

Hi!
I have just installed lcdproc-5.2 on an ubuntu machine and i have almost
got it working.
My display is a 24x2 character display with an hd44780 controller. The
thing is that the four first characters on each line are "off screen" What
i mean is the the server screen looks something like this:

CDproc Server ######
 0  Scr: 0

At the end of the first line there are four "empty characters".
Does anyone have any idea on what could be causing these problems?
