Hey Man, thanks a lot. heartbeat and backlight on/off work now. I set Brightness to 255 (Maximum). Though the LCD starts with a brighter backlight than it gets when LCDd starts. I tried higher numbers than 255, but this doesn't result in success. But hey, it works, big smile, Wilhelm
