[Lcdproc] Does anyone have a datasheet for a UMS(H)-7168JD-YG?

Hi, all,

I picked up a 2x20 LCD this weekend at a Hamfest, and was wondering if
anyone had a datasheet for it. I've googled around a bit and seem to
have found that UMS-7168JD-YG is a somewhat common part number (even
though mine seems to have an 'H' in the first part), but nobody has
datasheets for it.

On the surface, it's a rather standard LCD display with LED backlight.
The backlight is labelled A and K as one would expect, but the
interface connector is 1x20, not the 1x16 that one would expect for an
LCD plus backlight.

Something else that's interesting about this LCD is that besides the
two epoxied driver chips on the back of the board, there's a blank
area for an 8-pin SOIC, a couple of solder jumpers (blank), and places
for a few capacitors and resistors, one marked "RT", suggesting to me
that it wants to take a thermistor. Perhaps it's for temperature
calibration of the contract, but it just seemed odd to find a square
centimeter of the board with an unused patch that seems so easy to
populate.

Any pointers to datasheets or just rampant speculation on why this has
18 pins for power/data/control is welcome.
