[Lcdproc] LCDexec with MtxOrb display

I've read the docs for LCDexec and it all seems pretty straight
forward...but I can't make it work :) Hopefully someone will point out the
obvious step I'm missing.
I have LCDd and LCDproc running great with my MtxOrb display. ( The screen
automatically rotates through a lot of the standard screens). However,
nothing happens when I press any of the six buttons:
UP/LEFT/DOWN/RIGHT/ENTER/F1/F2 - is this normal?
Next, I wanted to create a simple menu so I loaded LCDexec with the default
config file (just echo'ing the keypresses). It loads fine, but again I see
no input/echos
Does anyone have an idea? Any with a config file for a MtxOrb they want to
share?
