[Lcdproc] Question about /dev/lcd0

Hello,

after I got my imon VFD display to work properly on my Gentoo system now I
have tried to get it running on a small Spblinux system (this system uses
the same kernel 2.6.20 and has been compiled on the Gentoo system).

Gentoo: So before I have installed beside lcdproc together with lirc
(lirc-device is imon). To start the display I need to run
modprobe lirc_imon
LCDd  (this already starts the server display)

Spblinux: Now I tried the same but I get errors
modprobe lirc_imon seems to load, I get proper load messages (lsmod shows
lirc_imon too, also lirc_dev is loaded)
But LCDd now stops because it tries to load the driver imon but cannot find
/dev/lcd0

Can someone explain what is required to get /dev/lcd0 ? I guess it should
come up with lirc_imon. What is the reason that it is not created? What can
I check else?
