Hi,

I can't believe the driver is not working at all.

Is your LCD connected to /dev/ttyS1 ?
This is usually the 2nd serial port.
Did you try with other settings ?

What does the LCDd server say when you call it with the parameters
-f1 -s0 -r5 ?
Only the 1st ~20 lines are relevant.
