Ok, this was another problem, in the noritake800 driver of=20
graphlcd-base, I will submit the patch to the graphlcd-base maintainer.

I couldn't try irmp3 (you mean http://irmp3.sf.net, don't you?) on my=20
gentoo (pretty up to date distribution) as none of the versions from the=20
download section compile...
However, I did some modifications to the glcdprocdriver, which might=20
improve clearing of the screen (with glcdlib, unfortunately the=20
buffering gets a little more complex). So I would like to ask you to try=20
  and report the behaviour with this:
