[lcdproc] mobile phones

These screens can be more of a problem.
For example, you can get replacement/colored LCD's for Nokia phones (51xx
and 61xx), which have a little ribbon cable that plugs in. However, the
driver chips for these screens are built into the phones. Also, while there
is a dot-matrix portion to the display, there are also very specific
sections, like antenna/batt streght, and the little icons for other things.

has anyone had any luck with the lcd screens from mobile telephones?

im going to buy a cheap phone for £5 from a contact, and ill find out when i
get the phone from him (one weeks time) but if you know weather what i am
trying to do will work or not, please say now!!!

ie. does the screen have the driver, or are phone producers clever and put
all that info on the same chips for the encoding/decoding of phone signals
(skin flints).

rob.
