[lcdproc] suggestions for keypad w/ lcdproc?

Greetings,

I am connecting a 3x3 keypad to the parallel
port in addition to my winamp-connected HD44780.

I currently plan on using a latch and reading them
on 3 of the input linnes:

  SEL (17) clock for latch
D0..2 row drivers, input to the latch

  FAULT inputs (which 3 TBD)
  PAPEREND
  ACK
  BUSY

Questions:

1) Anyone have a similar configuration?

2) Anyone have code to do something similar
(e.g., a thread to read the keys)?

3) Any interest in folding this back into lcdproc
in the future? My initial plan is to do this
    outside of lcdproc.

BTW, I am adding a bunch of documentation and making
a few cleanups to the hd44780 source files for lcdproc.

I also had some problems with using a LCD via the
4-bit mode on 0.4.1. The same hardware worked fine
on 0.4pre9. As the 4-bit mode is very slow, I decided
to go 8-bit (hence complicating my keypad).

Cheers,

Occasionally your car would just die for no reason, and
you'd have to restart it, but you'd just accept this.
