[lcdproc] Slashdot headline client?

Has anyone made a client that displays headlines from
Slashdot/Freshmeat/etc on the LCDproc? I don't know a thing about
programming perl or socket programming. But, since i'm addicted to
slashdot, I might just have to learn perl. ;-)
