It sounds like you're doing a lot of the things I've been
wanting to add.  It'd be cool if we could work together.  Even
if not, mind if I incorporate some of your ideas into the main
LCDproc?

Specifically, I've been meaning to write some graphic drivers
which emulate a text display but have extra functionality (like
you mentioned).  Each driver would define its own limitations,
and display the available widgets to the best of its ability.
I hadn't thought of the "alt tag" idea, though.  It sounds good.

Also, the relative screen placement is a big thing which needs
to be done.  I intend to change this at least for bargraphs in
the next release, but eventually it will need a more complete
relative-position handler like what tcl/tk uses.

What are some of the details of your widget-placement system?
