Since you've done work on getting graphical displays going, do
you think it would be possible to incorporate your ideas into
LCDproc? I assume that by "graphics", you mean "stuff other
than just text", or pixel-based control.

One of the main problems I see with using both graphical and
text-based displays is the same problem with writing programs
which work both in X11 and in a console. You can emulate a
console in X11, but you couldn't write a VT version of, say, Gimp.

The only way I see to get clients to work with both styles of
display is to explicitly support them. So, check what the
server is using and then adjust the requests accordingly. Or,
take some control away from the clients, and make scalable
widgets which look better on graphic displays but are still
compatible (at a lower quality) on text displays.

What are your thoughts on this? Have you found any good
solutions?
