If the code works well, I should include it in the current
release.  I know people have had problems compiling the old
one, because of its call to "ioperm"; so maybe it's a good time
to switch to the new driver.  :)

I can keep the old one around too, but I can't promise to keep
it updated and "working"..

Yup.  Try "LCDd -i off" or "LCDd --serverinfo off".  :)
