Thanks for all the replies. I wired up the LCD moduleas shown in the
diagram that I gave in my last message, and the backlight was turned on,
without getting fried; I call that a good start. :)

The source code that I downloaded recently (0.3.4) has already incorporated
your HD44780 patch. However, I was told that LCDProc only works with
4-line displays. Mine has only two lines (I wanted a smaller one so it
could fit into a 5.25" bay).

Does anybody on the list know an easy way to change LCDProc to work with
two-line displays? If this has not already been implemented, could you
give me some pointers before I start hacking the code?
