The general output pins are 5V so I got a cheep < $2 piezo buzzer from
Radio Shack that had bare wires. Be sure to get one that works with
5V DC. Mine works with something like 3V-12V DC. To connect it to
the jumper style pins, I used an old LED (cut the LED off) i had from
a hard drive (supposed to be used as an external LED if your
motherboard doesn't control the drive) to get the little jumper
fitting.
I love my buzzer. I already have that LED box that has a light
specified for when i get email
(http://www.sit.wisc.edu/~edwalter/linux/geek.html). Now I also have
my procmailrc signal lcdproc with SIGUSR2 to get 2 beeps everytime I
get an important email (not spam, not mailing list). That way, if I'm
in the room, but not paying attention to the computer, I know when I
get new email (because, like this one, it all so urgent ;)
